Our Head of School

Kelly is Rafiki Classical Academy’s Head of School. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. After teaching in both a public school and private classical Christian school in Tampa, Florida, Kelly moved to Africa to serve as a missionary with the Rafiki Foundation. She spent 11 years teaching and leading the Rafiki Schools in Rwanda and Uganda. From 2013-2017 she served as the Head of School in Rwanda and was the Head of School in Uganda from 2017-2022. When she left Uganda, the school had grown to 400 students and ranked in the top 10% in the nation. Kelly returned to Florida in 2022 to launch Rafiki Classical Academy. Kelly earned a Masters of Educational Leadership from Covenant College in 2014, and a Masters of Christian and Classical Studies from Knox Theological Seminary in 2023.

In accordance with Section 1002.421(1)(h), Florida Statutes, all instructional personnel at Rafiki Classical Academy meet one of the following requirements:

o Bachelor’s Degree or higher in any subject

o Three or more years of K-12th grade teaching experience

o Special skills, knowledge, or expertise that qualifies them to provide instruction in K-12th grade subjects
